Classroom computers around campus are equipped with a variety of teaching tools and programming to enhance the learning experience for students at ¶¶Òõpro. For a demonstration of classroom capabilities, please contact the IT Service Desk at 314-977-4000 or .
Standard Classrooms
Though many classroom spaces throughout SLU's campus have additional technology or enhanced equipment*, the majority of the classrooms are set up in a standard fashion and include:
- Digital projection system
- Electric screen
- Cameras (fixed or pan, zoom, tilt)*
- Bluray/DVD player
- Local computer - Windows 10
- Laptop connection:
- VGA w/audio
- Display port
- HDMI
- In-room ceiling speakers
- In-room microphone (ceiling or handheld)*
- Instructor podium or credenza (depending on the size of the room).
Information for individual rooms, including schedules, can be found on the online calendar 25Live. From the 25Live homepage, click on the blue "Locations" tab and enter the three-letter building code in the search box.
Software in Classrooms
Many ¶¶Òõpro classrooms are equipped with a computer to facilitate teaching and learning. These classroom computers have a standard configuration to allow faculty to make a seamless transition from one classroom to another. The configuration includes the following installed software:

Software Requests
Instructors who require discipline-specific software installed in public classrooms or labs supported by ITS should complete the following steps:
- Before purchasing any new software, contact the IT Service Desk at 314-977-4000 to discuss current hardware and operating system requirements. (Software on shared use computers must meet minimum ITS requirements to work properly, and license management must be part of the plan. Purchases should take place at least eight weeks before you plan to use the software in the computer lab or classroom.)
- Contact the IT Service Desk at 314-977-4000 to submit a request for the software installation.
- Locate the original media and proof of license compliance. All software installed requires proof of license compliance before installation.
- Send the installation media and a copy of the license (or evidence of this allocation) to ITS. Deliver or send the requested software and license documentation to ITS offices in the Wool Center. To guarantee software installation at the time of need, the software and documentation should arrive no later than four weeks before when the software is needed.
- Confirm the proper installation and configuration before classes begin. After the software is received, it will be installed and tested by ITS to ensure that the software appears functional. An ITS staff member will email or contact you by phone to confirm that the software is installed and available for testing by you or a designee, and to ensure that your configuration/functionality expectations are met.
Repair and Maintenance
To help minimize downtime for our classroom installations throughout campus, ITS proactively maintains our classroom installations. If your department has a problem with a piece of equipment or a technology installation that is not part of the ITS inventory, we may still be able to help.
If it is beyond our scope, we can identify the appropriate vendor to handle the situation. This service is offered to the University community to help identify problems more efficiently to minimize downtime. We charge back parts plus labor and/or pass through any vendor charges.

Troubleshooting Tips
In most classrooms, once there is motion in the room, the motion sensor will wake up the classroom technology control panel. The control panel is located on the work surface of the instructor station and has a touchscreen. Simply look for the university logo and touch the screen to begin.
If the touch screen remains dark, tap the screen to verify that it powers on. If the screen produces the splash screen, then proceed to power the system on as normal.
If the screen remains dark, contact classroom technology support at 314-977-4099 so that a ticket can be entered for Tier 2 troubleshooting.
From the classroom technology control panel, touch the video source button and then select the source you wish to display.
If it is still not displaying, click "Room Control" on the control panel, select "Picture," and make sure that the "Picture Mute" button is not selected.
If the problem persists, restart the classroom control panel and your computer. To restart the system, select the button in the upper right-hand corner of the touch panel that says "System Power Off." Select "Yes" and the system will begin the shutdown process. Depending on the room, this can take up to two minutes. Once you see the University logo re-appear, press the screen and if showing, press "Start AV System."
From the classroom technology control panel, make sure to select the correct source, either Ext. Video, HDMI, VGA, or Display Port depending on the device you are trying to use.
If you are using a borrowed piece of equipment, make sure the cables are fitting tightly into the device and into the classroom controls.
