African American Studies, Minor
¶¶Òõpro’s minor in African American studies introduces students to the African diaspora and the impact, interrelationships and dynamics in contemporary African American communities.
African American studies examines the racial, cultural and ethnic perspectives and experiences of people of African heritage. The program helps students understand national and global views of African Americans and Africans to determine how such views have affected perceptions of self, family and community.Â
The African American studies minor complements many majors offered at SLU, including degrees in communication, marketing, political science, psychology and social work.
It can be completed in coordination with any College of Arts and Sciences major. Students enrolled in the other schools and colleges of the University should refer to their requirements for coordinating the minor.
Up to six credits of electives can be used to satisfy the Arts and Sciences core as well as the major requirement.
