Chakrabarty, Colleagues Recognized with 2021 Award for Responsible Research in Management

Bidisha Chakrabarty, Ph.D., Edward Jones Endowed Professor and Chair of the Department of Finance at the Chaifetz School of Business, has been recognized by the Fellows of the Academy of Management and the Community for Responsible Research in Business and Management (RRBM) with its 2021 Award for Responsible Research in Management. Chakrabarty and her colleagues were selected for their research on the impact of CFO gender on financial misreporting in U.S. firms.

Published in the Academy of Management Journal in June 2020, the study  “” utilized a novel leading indicator of financial misreporting to find firms with female CFOs had a lower likelihood of financial misreporting than comparable firms with male CFOs. The study further found misreporting differences between firms with male CFOs and firms with female CFOs to be greater in instances of weaker governance mechanisms.
