The main support structure for the School of Medicine’s Faculty is the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (OFAPD). This office is dedicated to facilitating the career success and academic advancement of the faculty of ¶¶Òõpro School of Medicine. It also collaborates with a variety of partners to offer opportunities to optimize career development.
Regardless of whether a SLU faculty member’s primary interests are research, education, or clinical care and service, the OFAPD is available to help them thrive in their career at the ¶¶Òõpro School of Medicine.
Our goals and primary functions include:
- Collaborating with Human Resources to facilitate new faculty appointments
- Coordinating new faculty orientation
- Overseeing issues related to the faculty review process, including annual review, mid-tenure review, career counseling and career development
- Providing guidance, education and procedural oversight for promotion and tenure
- Establishing policies that impact faculty at the SLU School of Medicine
- Partnering with faculty governing bodies, including the Committee on Faculty Affairs, the Executive Committee of the Faculty Assembly and the Faculty Senate
- Partnering with the Office of Professional Oversight
- Partnering with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Providing opportunities at the School of Medicine for faculty to focus on career enhancement, leadership skill development, mentoring and work-life integration
- Celebrating faculty achievements
