The pro Division of Developmental Pediatrics provides diagnostic evaluations, follow-ups, support and advocacy in the community for children and their families.
As part of the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center, we care for patients with a broad range of neurodevelopmental disabilities, communication disorders, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, intellectual disabilities and genetic disorders with associated developmental and behavioral concerns.
Service Overview
We provide PEERS,® social skills intervention at and locations, as well as a grant-funded trial of PEERS at Margaret Buerkle Middle School. We also continue our Move to Communicate program that promotes communication in nonverbal preschoolers.
In addition, the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center has an ongoing contract with the Illinois Department of Human Services to provide clinical evaluations for children in the Early Intervention program as well as developmental pediatric consultation for Early Intervention service coordinators for the southern half of Illinois. Our family care navigators continue to guide the families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to facilitate implementation of services.
Special Services
We serve as investigators and collaborators in multiple clinical research projects related to ASD and other developmental disabilities. Our staff has been awarded many research grants and has been involved in multiple publications with peer review articles and books. We have participated in international and national research meetings and presented abstracts, posters, and presentations in the field of ASD and other developmental disabilities.
