Honors Student Association

The Honors Student Association (HSA) is a chartered student organization that provides programming for students in the Honors Program. All honors students have automatic membership. The HSA is coordinated by a seven-member executive board and provides members with opportunities to attend social events, participate in service opportunities, and engage meaningfully with honors faculty. In recent years, the HSA has created and implemented community-building events such as the annual back-to-school ice cream social, year-round "fireside chats" that feature informal conversations with Honors Program faculty members and staff and Honors Night at the Ballpark. We can’t wait to see you at some HSA events!

For information about HSA, honors students may view the HSA resources on our Honors Program Canvas page and calendar. Students may also email honors@slu.edu or check out the , for the latest announcements and events.

Path

Path is a peer mentoring program designed to support first-year honors students in their transition to SLU and the larger honors community to promote a healthy, engaged lifestyle at the university. Managed by the University honors program coordinator and co-led with two path student coordinators, the program engages returning honors students to serve as path mentors.

Path mentors are paired with a group of 10 to 12 first-year students and assist them in their transition to SLU by providing peer mentoring and study tips, helping students to get involved on campus, and attending Honors programming. Path mentors also create and implement monthly wellness workshops which are open to all honors students. Past wellness workshops include a focus on journaling for gratitude, practicing mindfulness, and creating nutritious study snacks.

Honors Learning Community

The Honors Learning Community (Honors LC), located in Spring Hall, provides an opportunity for first- and second-year students to live together and to take associated courses together. These common bonds enrich the academic experience of the honors program, engender strong friendships among participants, and provide ample opportunities for service to communities in and around ¶¶Òõpro.

Presidential Scholar Society

The Presidential Scholar Society is a student-led organization that provides professional, academic, service and cultural experiences to help SLU’s Presidential Scholarship recipients develop their full potential as leaders capable of solving issues facing our world today.

Students in the Presidential Scholar Society can apply for competitive grant funding through the Investigative Learning Experiences (ILEX) grant. ILEX grants support scholarly, research, and creative practice projects, some of which have a community engagement component.
