Otolaryngology Observership

The ¶¶Òõpro Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery offers an observership program for high school students, undergraduate students, medical students, residents and practicing physicians to help explore and expand medical knowledge in all aspects of otolaryngologic issues.

Observership status means that the visitor is not permitted to have direct patient contact or responsibility for patient care. This is a strictly hands-off experience. Observations include clinic, operating room and departmental functions. No benefits, salary, stipends, medical insurance, room and board, transportation or academic credit will be provided.

Completion of the necessary documents does not ensure approval to observe. Applicants are subject to an approval process.

International Observers

Applicants must have a valid visa or U.S. passport; the department does not sponsor observers for a visa such as a J-1.

Application packets must be postmarked six weeks before the observership start date and include:

  • Completed application,
  • a valid visa or U.S. passport,
  • current curriculum vitae, and
  • vaccination records.
High School Students

High school students are invited to participate for a maximum of two weeks. Please send an email stating your interest and include the following information:

  • Specific dates and physician you wish to observe,
  • grade level, and
  • date of birth.
