09/17/2024

The , for University staff members, is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24. The conference will take place in the Busch Student Center.

Staff members will not be required to use vacation hours or leave time to participate. Organizers encourage a comfortable business-casual atmosphere at the event.

This event is held each year to recognize staff contributions to SLU and gets its name from the battlefield injury suffered by St. Ignatius in 1521.

The keynote speaker this year is Tiffany Anderson, Ph.D.

Anderson's speech is intended to energize participants to think differently as she explores the neuroscience of human connection and happiness.  Anderson will share practical strategies that improve organizational outcomes and increase human connection within systems.

She will also share the neuroscience impacting happiness, motivation and workplace fulfillment as key levers to increasing joy at work. She will use humor and storytelling to empower attendees with strategies to leverage behaviors that create a culture of joy and fulfillment.

Anderson will share how she helped transform organizations using the power of human connection to increase staff fulfillment and improved mental health outcomes for students and staff.  As one of Education Week's 16 Leaders to Learn From and the 2023 National Women Leader of the Year, Anderson hopes to share practical strategies that will motivate, inspire and energize the Billiken community.

To ensure an accurate food and T-shirt count, attendees must by noon Wednesday, Oct. 16.

The Grand Shuttle will run every 20 minutes. The Scott Hall/Parks Shuttle will run its normal schedule. Reciprocal parking will be available in the Laclede parking garage for those who drive to the Busch Student Center.
