¶¶Òõpro Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building

¶¶Òõpro's Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering (ISE) building features innovative teaching environments and flexible lab spaces.

Opened in summer 2020, the 90,000-square-foot, three-story structure is a place where students and faculty learn, collaborate and experiment together.

Located on the southern edge of Tegeler Field, just east of Ritter Hall, the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering building includes:

  • Teaching-lab spaces to support bioinformatics, biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, neuroscience and computer science courses that support all science, engineering, nursing and health science majors at SLU
  • 10,000 square feet in research space
  • Active learning classroom that can seat up to 210
  • Formal and informal collaboration and gathering spaces
  • A research-computing and data-visualization support center
  • A large, three-story atrium

Research interests from around SLU are represented in the ISE building, including:

The departments of biology and chemistry also have teaching labs in the building.

Projects with dedicated space will be evaluated for continuation based on interdisciplinary collaborations formed, publications, grants, how often the space is occupied and student opportunities provided.  A non-dedicated Research Incubator space is available to faculty, staff or students as needed.
