Health Management and Policy, Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

¶¶Òõpro's Certificate in Health Management and Policy blends skills in management, economics, and policy of health care systems.Ìý

Curriculum Overview

SLU's health management and policy certificate is designed for three distinct audiences:Ìý

  1. Students actively pursuing their M.P.H. at ¶¶Òõpro in a concentration other thanÌýhealth management and policy
  2. Graduate students at ¶¶Òõpro in other programs who want skills in the management of health care systems and policy implementation.
  3. Professionals who wish to gain additional skills in health management and policy.

This 12-credit certificate can be completed over one to two years and is offered in person.

Careers

Students completing their Certificate in Health Management and Policy will learn the skills necessary to prepare for senior leadership roles in a wide range of public, private and not-for-profit organizations committed to improving health care delivery systems, access to health care services and reducing risks to the public's health. Graduates of the health management and policy curriculum work in hospitals, managed-care organizations, health departments, political action committees, community organizations, research organizations, universities and other related agencies.

Admission Requirements

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree, preferably with at least a 3.00 grade point average. Experience in a health-related field is preferred, but not required. Applications are reviewed on a holistic and rolling basis. To apply, applicants will need to submit their transcripts, CV, personal statement and two letters of recommendation throughÌý, the common application system for public health schools and programs.

Continuation Standards

Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 in all graduate/professional courses.

Roadmaps are recommended semester-by-semester plans of study for programs and assume full-time enrollmentÌýunless otherwise noted. Ìý

Courses and milestones designated as critical (marked with !) must be completed in the semester listed to ensure a timely graduation. Transfer credit may change the roadmap.

This roadmap should not be used in the place of regular academic advising appointments. All students are encouraged to meet with their advisor/mentor each semester. Requirements, course availability and sequencing are subject to change.
